ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST   
FEBRUARY 5, 2018 at 2 p.m.
 
PRESENT:  Judy Garrett, Audrey Whitcomb, Anne Darling, Mary Lu Walker, Roger Bartholomew, Sue Gruber, Ed Lewis, Mary Ann Thomas, John Harvey, Tom Hart, Margo Brown, Sally Kersting
ABSENT:  Ginny Hauff, Jean Wosinski, Ed Reif
GUESTS:  Mary Hallinan, Frank Fehlner, Joanne Herman, Martha Schreurs
Judy welcomed the incoming Board members and guest, Martha Schreurs. 
Minutes of the 2017 Annual Membership meeting were accepted.
Treasurer’s Report – Tom’s report was accepted as presented.  The 2017 books and records were audited by Pam Schmitt.  All records were pronounced in order.
The 2018 Proposed Budget was presented (attached).  Sally moved, Roger seconded to accept the proposed budget.  Motion carried.
The Federal and State filings are complete.
A Corning Incorporated grant was pursued after locating an active employee.  Patrick Tepesch applied for us, but all 65 had been awarded.  These grants were awarded to celebrate the Corning Foundation’s 65th anniversary.
Retiring Board members are Tom Hart, Margo Brown, and Judy Garrett.
The new class of Board members is:  Joanne Herman, Mary Hallinan, Derek Woollatt, and Frank Fehlner.  Ed Reif will begin a second 3-year term.

Proposed Officers for 2018 are:
     President and Membership roster keeper – Sally Kersting
     Vice President – Derek Woollatt
     Second Vice President –
     Secretary – Susan Gruber
      Treasurer – Joanne Herman
     Program chair – Mary Ann Thomas
     Publicity chair – Ginny Hauff
Mary Lu moved, Sue Gruber seconded to approve the slate of new officers, the new class of Directors, and the reelection of a Director for another 3-year term.  Motion carried,
Check Signing Authorization – Currently Tom, Anne, Judy, and Margo are listed.  The new list would be:  Joanne Herman, Treasurer; Sue Gruber, Secretary; and Sally Kersting, President.  Judy moved, Mary Lu seconded to approve.  Motion carried.
Judy prepared a list of Officers’ Duties (attached).
Program Chair’s Report – Mary Ann Thomas – The Program Committee is composed of Board members:  Mary Ann, Anne, Judy, Jean, Ginny, Margo, Sally, Mary Lu, Ed L., Ed R., John, Joanne, and non Board members:  Louise Bush, Jean Krebs.  The programs planned for 2018 are:
     -January 18 – Nancy Reigelsperger, Financial Educator – Strategies to clear clutter
     -February 15 – James Allard, Steuben Cty. Sheriff – scams, opioid epidemic, safety concerns
     -March 15 – Thomas Dimitroff, local historian – presentation on third history of Corning
     -April 19 – Jeff Eaton, President, Arbor Housing – Update on Northside Project
     -May 17 – Glenn Curtiss Museum, Ken Leisenring
     -June 21 – Dr. Kate Douglas, CCC President – Info on med. Concerns of seniors, auditing classes
     -September 20– Elizabeth Whitehouse – money saving tips for heating and garbage
     -October 18 – Andrea Pickles, Occupational Therapist from Bethany Village
     -November 15 – Mike Keane on the new tax bill
 
OLD BUSINESS:
 
Directors’ assessment will stay $50 for 2018.
Website (www.corningareaaginginplace.org.)  CAAIP will take over the cost after generous support by Anne and Roger in the past.
Programs for 2017 were:
     -January – Long-term care:  risks/impact, options – financial planning/wealth management
     -February – Lee Berrettini, Compounding pharmacist
     -March – Mary Ann Starbuck, Care First
     -April – Dr. Connie Sullivan-Blum – Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes
     -May – Thomas Dimitroff, local historian
     -June – Kate Paterson, Full Circle America
     -September – Thomas Dimitroff, 2nd part of history of Corning area
     -October – Dick Russell, Faith in Action
     -November – Robin Staver – Care Management
No programs in July, August or December.

Full Circle America participation – Kate Paterson has resigned because she has been elected to the Corning City Council which will take up much of her time.
ACES – Sue reported that she will have a spot on Senior Notebook.  An Elmira program will be added.
NEW BUSINESS:  Goals for 2018:
     -Update Solutions Directory
     -Continue to provide programs of interest to our members
Anne reported on a Guthrie Now Program for addressing minor medical issues.  Need to sign up  - $49/call.
